She was baptised in Tiverton but some census records state that her birthplace was Cruwys Morchard.2 
BaptismMary Anne Channing was baptized on 11 Jun 1815 in Tiverton, Devon. She was the daughter of William, a Miller, & Catherine Channing of Wythley Mill, Tiverton.3 
MarriageShe married George Haywood on 6 Oct 1839 in Tiverton.
Details from the register: George Haywood, full age, bachelor, Yeoman, residence Tiverton, father Willm Haywood, a Yeoman;
Maryanne Channing, full age, spinster, Dressmaker Tiverton, father William Channing, Miller;
They were married in the parish church after banns and the witnesses were Sarah Oliver [Mary Ann's sister] and E Sharland. [They signed their names with the spelling George Heywood and Mary Ann Channing]4,5 
Research Note Children's birth registrations use the spelling Heywood. 
1841 CensusGeorge and Mary Ann Heywood appeared on the 1841 Census of Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon, at Thongsleigh Mill with Mary Ann's parents. George was 45, an Agricultural Laborer, and Mary was 25. [Their son] Edwin was one year old and they were all born in Devon.6 
Research Note Their daughter Maria was baptised in Exeter in 1849 at the age of 6.7 
1851 CensusGeorge and Mary Ann Heywood appeared on the 1851 Census of St Thomas Apostle, Devon, at Cowick Street. George was 56, a Labourer, and born in Thelbridge Devon. Mary Ann was 36, birthplace Crews Morchard. Their children were George (9, Tiverton) and Maria (7, St Thomas Apostle), both scholars.1 
(Widowed) Burial.Her husband George died in 1852.8 
1861 CensusMary A Heywood and her children John and Catherine M appeared on the 1861 Census of Cheriton Fitzpaine, Devon with her brother John, at Thongsleigh Mill. Mary A was 45, a widow, born in Cruwys Morchard, and was a Housekeeper. John was 9, Catherine 7, and they were both born in St Thomas Exeter.2 
1871 CensusMary Ann Heywood appeared on the 1871 Census of Tiverton, Devon, at William Street. She was 55, a widow, born in Tiverton, and a Sempstress.9 
Research Note The birthplace does not agree, so this might not be Mary Ann in the 1871 census. However, her daughter Catherine was a resident of Tiverton when she married in 1875.
