Information from the register: Edwin Fernee, bachelor & Eliza Foden, spinster, both of St Mary Islington parish were married by banns which were published May 17, 24, & 31st. The witnesses were James Holston and Hannah Foden.2 
1841 CensusEliza Foden and Edwin Fernee appeared on the 1841 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at Hamlet of Highgate. Edw was 30, a Labourer and was born in this county. Eli-- was 30 and born in county. Their children Edwin, Samuel, Joseph, Henry, Eliza and Joshua were living with them. Note that the 1841 census records ages rounded down to the nearest 5 years, does not record relationships, and only indicates whether or not the person was born in the county.3 
1851 CensusEliza Foden and Edwin Fernee appeared on the 1851 Census of St Mary's Hornsey, Middlesex, at No 7 Ward's Cottage. Edwin was 44, a General Labourer, and born in Highgate, Middlesex. Eliza was 43 and born in Edington, Worcesshire. Their children Joseph, Eliza, Joshua, George, James, Thomas, Sylvanus Ainsworth, Ann Mary and Anthony were living with them.4 
(Witness) Marriage Eliza Fernee witnessed the marriage of her son Samuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb on 30 Jan 1853 in St Pancras, Middlesex. Samuel's sister Eliza was a young teenager so the Eliza who witnessed the marriage must have been his mother.5 
1861 CensusEliza Foden and Edwin Fernee appeared on the 1861 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at Hamlet of Highgate. Edwin was age 56, a Laborer, and born in Highgate, Middlesex. Eliza was 54 and born in Birmingham, Warwickshire. Their children Sylvanus Ainsworth and Ann Mary were with them.1 
1871 CensusEliza Foden and Edwin Fernee appeared on the 1871 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at Coleridge Buildings No 9, Highgate, enumerated 2 Apr 1871. Edwin was 64, a Gardener, and born in Highgate. Eliza was 63 and born in Birmingham. Their son Thomas was listed as living with them.6 
DeathEliza died on 24 Jan 1873 in 9 Coleridge Buildings, Highgate, Middlesex.
Details from the registration: Eliza Fernee, age 65, wife of Edwin Fernee a Gardener, cause of death pneumonia 1 week. Thomas Fernee of the same address, present at the death, registered it the same day.7 
BurialShe was buried on 28 Jan 1873 in Islington Cemetery.8
