1861 CensusSamuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb appeared on the 1861 Census of Islington, Middlesex, at Durham Road. Samuel was 28, a Porter, and was born in Highgate, Middlesex. Melinda was 31 and born in St Lukes, Middlesex. Their children Malinda, Henry and Sarah Ann were with them.2 
1871 CensusSamuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb appeared on the 1871 Census of St Mary Islington, Middlesex, at 1 Clarence Cottages. Samuel was 40, a Railway Porter out of employ, and was born in Hornsey. Melinda was 41 and born in St Lukes. Their children Malinda, Henry, Elizabeth Mary Ann, Eliza Emily, Edwin James and Samuel William were living with them.6 
(Witness) Marriage Samuel Fernee witnessed the marriage of Walter Mills to his daughter Malinda Fernee on 25 Dec 1874 in St Marks Islington, Middlesex.7 
1881 CensusSamuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb appeared on the 1881 Census of Islington, London, at 32 Durham Road. Two families lived here - the Fernees and their married daughter Melinda. Samuel's son Henry also lived on Durham Road and daughter Elizabeth was a servant next door. Samuel was 48, a Porter, and was born in Highgate. Melinda was 49 and born in St Lukes. Their children Edwin James, Samuel William and Florence Annie were living with them, also one boarder.8 
1891 CensusSamuel Fernee and Melinda Harriet Webb appeared on the 1891 Census of Islington, London, at 32 Durham Road. Samuel and family live in 4 rooms; at 34 Durham Road is son Henry and family. Samuel was 58, worked as a Time keeper, and was born in Hornsey, Middlesex. Melinda was 61 and born in St Luke's, London. Their children Samuel William and Florence Annie were with them, as well as a boarder and lodger Louisa Webb age 71.9 
DeathSamuel died in 1894.10
 
BurialHe was buried on 19 Feb 1894 in Islington Cemetery.11
