Neither party had been resident in Ontario for 15 days, so they got a special permit to marry. They were married in the Holy Trinity Angleican Church in Hamilton by Rev Griffin Thompson and the witnesses were [Melvin's sister] Hazel Arnott of Hamilton and [Melvin's brother] Charles A Arnott of Detroit.6 
1930 CensusMelvin F and Flicia S Arnott appeared on the 1930 Federal Census of Highland Park, Wayne County, Michigan, at 56 Pilgrim Avenue, enumerated 2 Apr 1930. They rented their home for $60 a month, owned a radio, and had with them Felicia's sister Ruth and father Harry. Melvin was 23, first married at 20, born in English Canada, parents born in Canada, had filed his naturalization papers, and his occupation was "Spec Police" in an office building. Felicia was 31, first married at 24, born in England, father born in England, mother in Michigan, and immigrated in 1900.7 
MarriageMelvin Frank Arnott married Marjory Catherine Blackburn in 1937.8

In Dec 1939, Harvey O Petersen and C Bernard Smith of Los Angeles attested to his character and that he resided in Los Angeles County from Dec 1936 to Feb 1937 and San Diego County from Feb 1937 to Feb 1939, then Huntington Park since then.

The petition was granted 22 March 1940.9 
1940 CensusMarion F [sic] and Fanny [sic] Arnott appeared on the 1940 Federal Census of Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California, at 366 Wisconsin Avenue. Their monthly rent was $38 and there were four renters at this address. In 1935, they lived in Long Beach but at a different address. Melvin was 33, had 8 years of education, was born in English Canada, naturalized, employed as a Decorator in a Department Store. He worked 40 hours the previous week and worked 52 weeks the previous year for an income of $1440. Fanny was 37, had 4 years of high school and was born in Michigan. With them was Marvin's mother-in-law Mary Blackbarn (widow, 68, born Illinois.)10 
Note.Melvin married again in California in the 1940s and had four children.11 
DeathMelvin died on 5 Nov 1994 in Santa Cruz, California.12,13
