At Exeter City Police Court yesterday, an application for the transfer of the Mount Pleasant Inn, from James Robert Wheeler to Reginald Owen Oliver was granted.7
 
Newspaper Published 18 May 1921 in the Western Morning News was an item about a bookmaker convicted of "welshing" at Newton Abbot Races. Among those he stole from was Reginald Owen Oliver, licensee of the Mount Pleasant Inn, Exeter, a sum of £2.
An account of the story in the Western Times noted that "the horse Mudeford Rex appeared to have been regarded as a likely winner" and Oliver had put on at 3 to 1 for £2. The defendant was fined £60, which was paid by his friends.8

To the Chairman of the Watch Committee of the Exeter City Council; and
To the Chief Constable of the County of the City of Exeter.
Take notice that I, REGINALD OWEN OLIVER, of 24, Union-road, Exeter, aforesaid under and by virtue of Section 8 of the Betting and Lotteries Act, 1934, hereby give notice of my intention on the 11th day of April next to APPLY for the grant to me of a LICENCE authorizing the provision of betting facilities on the following Track.
Situation of Track: -- The County Ground, St Thomas, Exeter.
And I hereby declare that Bookmaking was carried on on the said Track in connection with sporting events not less than nine days in the year 1933, and as respect the following days in connection with dog racing: -- July 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th, 22nd, 24th, and 29th.

Newspaper Published 18 Jan 1937 in the Western Morning News a notice of a new company - Exeter Greyhound Racing Company, Ltd. It's capital was £26,000 in £1 shares. The directors were Reginald O Oliver (permanent managing director), Marglen, Victoria Park-road, Exeter; Mrs Mabel Oliver, Marglen, and John Coombes, Roseville, 49, Cowicklane, Exeter.10

Four summonses under the Road and Rail Traffic Act were brought by the Licensing Authority for the Western area at Exeter Police Court yesterday.
Reginald Owen Oliver, "Marglen," Victoria Park-road, Exeter, pleaded guilty to using a goods vehicle without holding a licence authorising such use.
Mr Griffith Hall Lawson, traffic examiner, said no identity certificate denoting it was licensed was affixed to the vehicle when he saw it on December 10th, and defendant, who was very frank about the matter, told him that at the time he purchased the vehicle he asked the sellers to see that he was covered in every possible way.
Mr Lawson added that 6,000 people in the Western traffic area alone had been warned, and it had been felt that pleas of ignorance could no longer be accepted except in special circumstances.
A fine of £1 was imposed.11
 
(Admon) ProbateReginald Owen Oliver, dog racing promoter, was granted administration of his father Thomas Oliver's estate on 5 Apr 1937 in Exeter.12 
(Administrator) ProbateReginald Owen Oliver was the administrator of [his son] Norman James Oliver's estate on 12 Oct 1943 in Exeter. Entry from the probate calendar:

OLIVER Norman James of Romo Blackboy-road Exeter died 22 January 1943 on war service. Administration Exeter 12 October to Reginald Owen Oliver company director. Effects £992 3s 8d.13
 
Newspaper Published 3 Dec 1948 in the Exeter and Plymouth Gazette was an item regarding a case dismissed due a break in the chain of circumstantial evidence. A fellow was charged with the theft of a stocking containing about one shilling intended as a Christmas gift for the blind of Devon.
Reginald Owen Oliver, of 55a Blackboy-road Exeter, said the man was the only customer in the Heavitree Arms Hotel public bar and the stocking was hanging near the darts board. After the man left, Oliver noticed it was missing.14
