Note.Michael A Teal was admitted to a home for disabled volunteer soldiers in Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California on 10 August 1918. His file noted that he enlisted in the 15th Michigan Infantry on 4 Nov 1864 in Detroit. He was discharged 30 May 1865 in Washington D.C. as a private, cause of discharge M.O. [?].
Information given at admission: had a pension $22.50, born in Canada, age 74, height 5'6", fair complexion, gray eyes and hair, protestant, farmer, residence Riverside, California, single, nearest relative: friends Mrs Fellows and Samuel Evans of Riverside.
He died in the home and his personal effects were sent to Wm H Polkinghorn.6 
DeathHe died on 17 Aug 1918 of mitral insufficiency in the U.S. National Home for Disabled Soldiers in Sawtelle, Los Angeles County, California.6
 
BurialHe was buried in the Sawtelle Veterans Cemetery [now Los Angeles National Cemetery] in Section 37, Row A, No 6.6
