Passenger ListGeorge, Geo Thomas, and Alexander Gostick were listed on a manifest dated 10 Apr 1910 for the Lake Manitoba, arriving in St John, New Brunswick, from Liverpool. Their destination was Winnipeg and the family was Baptist. George was 43, married, a hat manufacturer who intended to farm. Geo Thomas was 17 and a carpenter. Alexander was 15 and an engineer apprentice.
Minnie, 46, and Frank, 11, arrived in Quebec from Liverpool on 9 September 1910 aboard the Victorian.4 
(with Parents) 1911 CensusHe appeared on the 1911 Census of Winnipeg, Manitoba with his parents. Alexander was born in August 1894 in England, was 16, and worked as a teamster for a store 52 weeks at 60 hours/week for $624, rate 20¢ an hour.5 
CEFHe volunteered for the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 26 Dec 1914 at Maple Creek. The attestation papers included the following information: Alex Gostick, born 5th August 1893 in London England, next-of-kin George Gostick of 156 Perth Ave West Kildonion Winnipeg, Rancher, single, not in the militia. Description: age 20, 5'10" tall, chest expanded 35", fair complexion, brown eyes, light brown hair, Baptist.6 
(with Parents) 1916 CensusAlexander appeared on the 1916 Census of Kildonan, Manitoba with his parents. He was 21, a driver for a department store, and was serving overseas.7 
MarriageHe married Edith Lilly Griffin on 3 Jan 1920 in W Kildonan, Manitoba.8
 
1921 CensusAlex and Edith Gostick appeared on the 1921 Census of West Kildonan, Manitoba, at 236 Belmont. They rented their place for $10/month. Alex was 26, born in England, and was a buyer of meats(?), earning $1200. Edith was 27 and born in England. They had one son, Raymond, age 3 months. The family's religion was Church of England.9 
DirectoryAlexander Gostick was listed in the 1922 Winnipeg, Manitoba, directory as Alex emp Swifts, homeowner at 236 Belmont.10 
DeathAlexander died on 25 Oct 1965 in St Boniface Hospital, Manitoba.1

ALEC GOSTICK
On October 25th, 1965, at the St Boniface Hospital, Alec Gostick, aged 71 years, beloved husband of Edith L Gostick, of Ste 7, 85 Eugenie Street. Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Clark Leatherdale Funeral Home, 232 Kennedy Street, with Canon E J Hoad officiating. Interment in Old Kildonan Cemetery.
Born in London, England, Mr Gostick came to Canada in 1910. He served with the Fort Garry Horse during the First World War. He was a member of the Canadian Kennel Club, and the Fort Garry Kennel Club; also was a member of the Norwood Legion. He was employed with Swift Canadian for over 40 years, retiring in 1953?. Surviving besides his wife, Edith L, is one son, Ray of St Boniface, two daughters, Mrs B (Joan) Hanke of Neepawa, and Mrs B (Muriel) Craig of Barstow, California; two brothers, George of Winnipeg and Frank of Vancouver, also five grandchildren.1
