Document On the 20th (?) of June 1805, the 45th year of the reign of George III, George Fernee Son of Samuel Fernee Decd, was apprenticed to John Goldham, Citizen and Glass Seller of London, for a term of seven years to learn the Art of a Victualler.3

MarriageGeorge Fernee married Chrissy Bennett, daughter of Robert Bennett and Sarah (-?-), on 16 Oct 1814 in St George the Martyr - Queen Square, Middlesex.
Information from register: George Fernee, bachelor and Chrissey Bennett, spinster, both of this parish were married by Banns. Witnesses were [George's brother and sister-in-law] Samuel Fernee and Eleanor Fernee.4

Document George Fernee was admitted to be a Freeman of The Worshipful Company of Glass-Sellers in London. He earned this right by servitude, e.g. completing his apprenticeship with his master who was a Freeman of that Company.7

The Matters of the Petitions and Schedules of the Prisoners hereinafter named (the same having been filed in the Court) are appointed to be heard at the Court-House, in Portugal-Street, Lincoln's-Inn-Fields, on Monday the 21st day of June 1830,at Nine o'Clock in the Forenoon. [The list of cases includes:]8

1830. "Robert Fernee, late of Perseverance-terrace, Church-street, Bethnal-green-road, butcher and cowkeeper, was opposed by Mr. Barry on behalf of Messrs. Charrington, brewers. It appeared that the insolvent became security for his brother to the opposing creditors by accepting a bill for 50l., on which he was afterwards arrested. He then gave bail, sold a cow and a cart, and deposited the lease of his premises with one of his creditors; after which he rendered to prison. The Chief Commissioner said this case came within the section of the act of Parliament relating to the making away with property after the arrest; but the Court thought that full justice would be done by remanding the insolvent for a period of ten weeks from the date of filing his petition."9
 
Note.Robert's brother George had gone into bankruptcy about this time. George was recorded as a victualler, which fits with having a brewer as a creditor. 
(Witness) Marriage George Fernee and Chrissey Fernee witnessed the marriage of Alexander Falconer and Mary Bennett on 20 Mar 1837 in St Pancras, Middlesex. Mary was the widow of Chrissey's brother Abraham.10 
Note.Their daughter Ellen Emma, born in 1839, reported that her birthplace was Blackwall, Middlesex (per 1871 census). Blackwall was a hamlet in Poplar parish and includes the West India docks. 
DirectoryGeorge Fernee was listed in the 1841 Middlesex directory as George Fernee, fruiterer, 3 Penton St, New Road, Pentonville.11 
1841 CensusGeorge and Crissey Fernee appeared on the 1841 Census of St James Clerkenwell (Finsbury), Middlesex, at Penton Street. George was 50, a Fruiterer, and born in Middlesex. Crissey was 46 and born in Middlesex. With them were their children George (26, chair maker), John (24, watch maker), Wm (17, jewellers apprentice), Thos (15), Ellen (2), as well as Maria Wright (56, Independent, and born in the county). Note that the 1841 census records ages rounded down to the nearest 5 years, does not record relationships, and only indicates whether or not the person was born in the county.12 
1851 CensusHe appeared on the 1851 Census of Islington, Finsbury, Middlesex, at 48 Pulteney Street. George Furnee was age 60, married, a Newsman, and born in Middlesex. He had a lodger and two other families lived at this address. His wife and son George were elsewhere in Islington.13 
EventJames Fernee recalled visiting his Great Uncle George at Islington on Pentonville [sic] when he was 17 ( circa 1859). Before then he used to call at George's son John, a compensation balance maker at 22, Cross Street in Islington.14 
(Widowed) DeathChrissy's death on 2 Dec 1862 left George a widower. Christiana's death certificate stated that she was the wife of George Fernee, retired Greengrocer.15 
DeathHe died on 27 Mar 1863 in the Workhouse, Coppice Row, Clerkenwell, Middlesex.
Details from the certificate: George Fernee, age 73, Labourer, died of Decay of Nature. The informant was James Stening, present at death, Workhouse Clerkenwell. Registered 1 April 1863.16
