Marriage BannMarriage banns were published for Anthony Story, bachelor, and Mary Partridge, spinster, both of this parish in St Mary Islington on 3 consecutive Sundays, March 19th, 26th, and April 2nd. The banns register said "Out" rather than the date of marriage which probably indicates it took place in a different church.3 
MarriageRegistrationThe marriage of Mary Partridge and Anthony Story was registered in the quarter ending Sep 1837. Civil registration of births, marriages, and deaths in England and Wales began July 1st, 1837, so they were among the first to be so recorded.2 
1841 CensusAnthony and Mary Story appeared on the 1841 Census of Tower Hamlets, St Leonard's Shoreditch, Middlesex, at No 12 Cannings Terrace. Anthony was 27, a journeyman Cabinet Maker, Mary was 24 and both were born in thi county. With them were Anthony Story (aged 16 months), Sophia Partridge (54, female servant), and another journeyman cabinet maker.4 
1851 CensusAnthoney [sic] and Mary Storey [sic] appeared on the 1851 Census of St Mary's Hornsey, Middlesex, at North Road, North Cottage, Highgate. Anthony was 36, a Cabinet Maker, and was born in St Pancras. Mary was 33, an Upholstress, and born in Highgate. Their children were Anthony (11), Ann J (7), Elizabeth (4), and Mary (1). The first two were born in Hoxton, then next two in Highgate and all attended school.5 
1861 CensusAnthony and Mary appeared on the 1861 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at North Road, Highgate. Anthony was 46, a Cabinet Maker, and born in Hampstead. Mary was 43 and born in Highgate. Their children were Anthony (21, solicitors general clerk), Elizabeth (14), Mary (11), Charles (8), Eliza (5), Thomas (3), and Frances (1). All but Frances were scholars.6 
1871 CensusAnthony and Mary appeared on the 1871 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at North Hill North Side 14, Highgate. Anthony was 56, an Upholsterer, and was born in St Pancras, Middlesex. Mary was 52 and born in Hornsey. With them were their children Mary (21, servant), Charles (18, brass finisher), Eliza (15), Thomas (13), Frances (11), and Richard W (9), as well as one lodger. The youngest four were scholars.1 
1881 CensusAnthony and Mary appeared on the 1881 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at Cottage, Highgate. Anthony was 66, a Cabinet Maker, and was born in Highgate. Mary was 63 and born in Highgate. No one else was in their household.7
