(with Parents) 1871 CensusHe appeared on the 1871 Census of Ealing, Middlesex with his parents. Herbert was 9, a scholar, and born in Marylebone, Middlesex.2 
(Other) 1881 CensusRobert L Frnie [sic] appeared on the 1881 Census of Ealing, Middlesex, in the household of John Robert Fernee. He was recorded as John's brother, age 19, railway clerk, and bornin St Johns Wood Middlesex.3 
Research Note I have no idea why the enumerator recorded Herbert as Robert. He is the correct age and birthplace (St John's Wood is in Marylebone) to be Herbert Augustus and he has not been found elsewhere. 
EducationHerbert Augustus Fernee was educated between 1884 and 1887 at Cambridge. The entry in Cambridge University Alumni reads: Admitted pens. at CHRIST'S, Oct. 6, 1884. Son of John. Born Sept. 7, 1861, in London. Schools, Church House Grammar, Ealing and Castle Hill, Ealing. Matric. Michs. 1884; B.A. 1887. Assistant Master in various schools. (Peile, II. 710.)4 
1891 CensusHe and Sarah Emma Bromage Rytson appeared on the 1891 Census of Ealing, Middlesex, at 50 Mattock Lane. Sarah E was 54, a widow living on her own means, and was born in Barnes, Surrey. Herbert A Fernee was her brother in Law, single, age 29, a Private Tutor, and born in St Marylebone, London. With them was one boarder.5 
1901 CensusHerbert Augustus Fernee appeared on the 1901 Census of Ealing, Middlesex, at 16 Mount Park Road. Herbert was a boarder, single, age 38, a Private Tutor, and was born in Marylebone London.6 
MarriageHe married Anne Selina Norris in 1910.7,8 
(Admon) ProbateHerbert Augustus Fernee was granted administration of his wife's estate on 3 Jun 1916.9 
DeathHerbert died on 7 Mar 1927 in 35 Marine Avenue, Hove, Sussex.10,11
