1891 CensusAugustus H and Ellen G Slade appeared on the 1891 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at 4 Carlisle Road, enumerated 5 Apr 1891. Augustus H was 33, worked as an Elementary Teacher, and was born in Newbury, Berkshire. Ellen G was 36, worked as an Elementary Teacher and was born in Barnsbury, London. With them was their daughter Grace L, age 4, a boarder and a servant.9 
(Witness) Marriage Ellen Grace Slade witnessed the marriage of her brother William Frederick Fernee to Florence Mary Ann Trenaman on 14 Apr 1894 in St Mark Islington, Middlesex.10 
1901 CensusAugustus H and Ellen G Slade appeared on the 1901 Census of Hornsey, Middlesex, at 4 Carlisle Road. Augustus was 43, an Elementary Teacher, born in Newbury Berkshire. Ellen was 46, an Elementary Teacher, born in Islington London. Also in the household was their daughter Grace L (14) and one domestic servant.11 
1911 CensusAugustus Hy and Ellen Grace Slade appeared on the 1911 Census of Finsbury Park, Middlesex, at 4 Carlisle Road. They had been married 25 years and had one child living and no children deceased. They were both Elementary Teachers for the London County Council. Augustus was 53 and born in Newbury Berks. Ellen was 46 and born in Barnsbury Middlesex. They had one daughter, Grace Louise (24), and a general servant.12
